Usually at the end then I build the application and create an installer for the Mobile Device, Sometimes I will connect the device directly to my laptop and Deploy it direct to the device.įeel free to reply if there is anything I can help you with. These are installed with the Windows Mobile SDK I think. I always build the program and Deploy it to a Windows Mobile Emulater Image to testing, etc

I am 99% sure that I had to select to install mobile device support when installing Latest Version of Windows Mobile Device Center As part of the process in developing application for a Windows Embedded CE 6.0 (CE 6.0) device using Visual Studio 2005 or 2008, we need to establish connectivity between the Visual Studio IDE and the CE 6.0 device in order to deploy the application for testing and debug. Visual Studio 2008 Professional - Dont think standard version supports mobile development ? I have VS 2010 & VS 2008 on my dev laptop for this very reason. I had to do a fair bit of Mobile development in the last year or so and its a real pain to get everything setup before you can even start to develop a program !įirst off, you can't use Visual Studio 2010 as its not supported. I've been in a similar situation to yourself, Been beating my head against my desk the last few days trying to get this worked out. I just need to know what exactly environment I need to build and what additional installs I need. The Windows Mobile 6 SDKs add documentation, sample code, header and library files, emulator images and tools to Visual Studio that let you build applications for Windows Mobile 6.

CRAZY! You also need to have the newest Windows Mobile Device Center, but that doesn't run on XP from what I've read.Ĭan anyone here give me step by step instructions of what I will need to do to develop programs (C#) for this new scanner? I have MSDN license and can build pretty much any environment needed (XP w/ VS2005 to Win7 with VS2010). I've found from my searches that I need to go back to Visual Studio 2008, and possibly back to 2005, to be able to develop programs for CE6.0. I am new to mobile application development and developing an application for the platform Win CE 6.0 in C.NET. I have a question we are using Visual Studio 2008. Microsoft has really dropped the ball for CE development in VS. A Cab file is the default setup format for Windows CE and Windows Mobile devices (similar to windows.

I have no problem rewriting the program to work on the new scanner but I can't for the life of me figure out how to get everything set up for development on this new scanner (and CE6.0). This is turning out to be a huge problem for me. The program will not run on the CE6.0 scanner. The newest one I ordered is running CE6.0. The original WDT-3250's that we were getting were running CE5.0. I made the auditing program (and webservice it connects to) a couple of years ago and our auditors have been using it very successfully. These scanners connect via wireless to our store's network whenever an auditor is in one of our stores. We use WASP WDT-3250 barcode scanners for our auditing.
